FERNANDO FERRAMOSCA ARQUITECTO DE SU PROPIA IMAGINACIÓN

Tal vez su formación como arquitecto lo mueva a construir ciudades en sus obras de arte, tal vez es algo intrínseco que, nacido con él (y en él), lo condujo incluso a estudiar arquitectura; lo cierto es que Ferramosca transforma desechos en obras de arte contenidas en cajas que él mismo fabrica, llenándolas y hasta sobrepoblándolas de personajes rimbombantes, estrafalarios y muchas veces dementes.

Al comienzo, este artista oriundo del barrio de Belgrano, Buenos Aires, edificaba ciudades lúgubres, pueblos bombardeados y arrasados cuyos sobrevivientes habíanse mudado a cuevas subterráneas para subsistir. Predominaba una paleta de grises y verdes virados al ocre en un mundo mecanizado donde la sangre y el trabajo humano eran fundamentales para mantenerse en ese único refugio que a estos hombres y mujeres les quedaba sobre la Tierra. Luego algo, en Ferramosca, cambió.

En aquella “Metrópolis” los rojos y amarillos (en sus diferentes tonos y valores) florecieron como en una explosión primaveral, la saturación del color se hizo intensa y los personajes del submundo se animaron a poblar las calles ahora abrumadas por el comercio y la banalidad, tan propia de los años noventa en Argentina y que hoy se recicla en la “Generación Audi”, tuneada con intereses muchas veces corruptos. Los Gordos Paradise es un ejemplo de esto, un Paraíso Terrenal colmado de piletas y toboganes acuáticos y hamburgueserías y pancherías y donas donde “los gordos” sacian su degradación en la gula y la lujuria. Pero que el INADI no se confunda, no es una agresión hacia los obesos, es una crítica certera al corazón enviciado de una sociedad corrupta, que ha puesto a los pecados capitales como pináculo escandaloso en su vida. Un espejo en donde se reflejan las almas amortajadas de muchos argentinos que esperan, en la indiferencia y en la soberbia, su putrefacción.

Sócrates decía que él era para Atenas lo que un tábano es a un caballo, que lo molesta para no dejar que se duerma, “que se cuelgue” dirían ahora los adolescentes tardíos. Ferramosca, tal vez sin saberlo (y ante la mirada vacua de muchos surfistas de la realidad), se ha constituido en socrático de raza.

A Mixed Media Artist Who Loves To Be Artistically Incorrect

At this year’s show there will be a large variety of artwork mediums ranging from traditional on canvas to mixed media.
We are excited to display Fernando Ferramosca’s unique works which have been exhibiting in numerous countries.
He has also been featured on a number of radio shows including Argentina’s “Fresh Air” program. Ferramosca’s work falls within the urban pop art 3D. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is an architect and artist.

The pieces will be brought over by Escarlata Gallery which is a contemporary art space located in Buenos Aires, Argentina at Palermo Soho (Design District), and has been opened since August 2006. It is directed by Andrea Finkelstein and presents solo and group exhibitions of paintings, sculpture and photography.

Ferramosca’s monumentous 3D works are an experiment where painting, architecture and micro-sculptures are combined through the use of various materials, many of which are recycled.

This achieves a three-dimensional composition, making the works minutely detailed worldly scenarios, with most cases recreating history, partly real and partly fictional, and always with a message on the author’s thought.This does not imply that the observer doesn’t have their own vision of the work .

Most classify his work within the 3D urban pop art scene and his philosophy is “Being artistically wrong, is more than a title, it is a way of feeling art …. To be artistically incorrect is more than a title, it is a way to feel art ….”

Despina Tunberg, Curator, Despina is an award-winning artist and gallery owner. She curated two galleries, one in Santa Barbara, California and the other in Chania, Crete both under the name of OMMA.
Despina has also organized exhibitions in museums and galleries in many countries and ran the Chania International Art Fair. Sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism in Greece, the show had over 150 exhibitors from around the world. The event generated significant media exposure for the participating exhibitors. Currently Despina runs an art promotional company out of Santa Barbara. She also organizes exhibitions at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts in Las Vegas. She showcases the artists she represents at annual art shows in Miami, New York and other cities in the United States.
